CHALLENGE
Tanzania is experiencing increasing climate-related pressures that affect food production, livelihoods, water security and the wellbeing of communities. Smallholder farmers, women, young people, pastoralists and other vulnerable groups are often among those most affected, yet their experiences, knowledge and locally developed solutions do not always reach national and policy discussions. At the same time, climate action can remain fragmented, with limited connections between community realities, research, government decision-making, financing and practical solutions.
SOLUTION
FROM COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE TO POLICY EVIDENCE
The Climate Justice Forum of Tanzania (CJFT) is positioned to bridge this gap by connecting community experience, evidence, solutions and policy action through one national platform. CJFT creates opportunities for communities to document and communicate the changes they are experiencing, identify practical solutions, and bring this evidence into dialogue with policymakers, researchers, civil society, development partners and other decision-makers.
COMMUNITY
EVIDENCE
POLICY DIALOGUE
ACTION
FROM COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE TO POLICY EVIDENCE
For example, where communities report shorter and less predictable rainfall seasons, declining crop yields, water shortages or increased pressure on household food security, CJFT can work with local actors to document these experiences, validate them with available research and data, identify the most affected groups, and capture the solutions communities are already using.
This evidence can then be transformed into community evidence briefs, case studies, policy recommendations and dialogue agendas that help decision-makers understand not only what is happening, but also who is affected, why it matters, what communities are already doing, and what support or policy changes are needed.
In this way, CJFT helps move climate discussions from general statements about vulnerability to clear, evidence-based community priorities and practical solutions.
